Ed Sheeran recently released an album featuring two hit singles called “Shape of You’ and “Castle on the Hill”. These songs show a new side of his music that hasn’t quite been revealed until now! The album is called “Divide”, and although in his previous albums he commonly used calming beats and only a few upbeat, he has evolved and has begun to make more upbeat songs.

“ The club isn’t the best place to find a lover
So the bar is where I go
Me and my friends at the table doing shots
Drinking faster and then we talk slow
Come over and start up a conversation with just me
And trust me I’ll give it a chance now
Take my hand, stop
Put Van The Man on the jukebox
And then we start to dance
And now I’m singing like “

When Ed Sheeran was writing the song “Shape of You”, he stated that he kept thinking “This would really work for Rihanna”. The first verse in the song is basically about how you can’t find love at a club, so he decides to go to a bar, where things are more relaxed. Sheeran is then drinking with his friends, when he sees a girl walk up to his table and she begins to talk to him. Then he contemplates giving the girl a chance. So, then they play a track from Van The Man on a jukebox and begin to dance to the song. During the song he continues to talk about how he gets to know her and falls for her more and more. So basically, this song is about a budding romance he finds in a bar. Taylor Weatherby has claimed “ ‘Shape of You’ “doesn’t quite sound like your typical Sheeran tune. But that almost serves as an indication of what the “Thinking Out Loud” singer has been up to during his hiatus: creating music that still feels like Sheeran, just with a new twist.” Many fans are agreeing that is Ed Sheeran has certainly made an even greater album than his previous ones (which didn’t seem possible due to the fact that his past albums were lyrical masterpieces). His change in style varies and has been enjoyed by many throughout the years.

“ Found my heart and broke it here
Made friends and lost them through the years
And I’ve not seen the roaring fields in so long, I know I’ve grown
But I can’t wait to go home “

In the song “Castle on the Hill”, Ed Sheeran is talking about what his life was like growing up in Suffolk, England. Sheeran has a special spot in his heart for his hometown, during this song he talks about how he fell in love and also got his heart broken there. He explains how he has made memories with and lost friends throughout the years. He has grown wiser throughout time and he doesn’t see things the same way he did when he was younger. He explains that he understands things have changed around him too, but he can’t wait to go back home. This is not only very inspiring, but also i’m sure it’s very relatable for many! The song has a bit of an upbeat rhythm but simultaneously can also get you thinking of your hometown and all of the memories you have made.
After Ed Sheeran took a long break, he came back into 2017 with a very appreciated BANG!! His songs show soul and tell amazing stories. “I really wanted to show two different sides to my music that I’m equally as passionate about and I just knew I wanted to roll with two songs at the same time,” Sheeran said in a statement. He then claims “I’m absolutely buzzing to be back.” A bunch of fans, as well as Sheeran himself are excited to hear more of what he has to offer and what new music he will release.
